You have a legal right to choose your vehicle repairer!
You do NOT have to claim on your insurance, when the accident is NOT your fault.
This is called a ‘non-fault’ accident.
To give you a brief picture about your rights and why it is better to choose your vehicle repairer yourself…
In July 1993, the Director General of Fair Trading asked insurance companies to clarify consumers’ rights under the terms of ‘approved’ or ‘recommended’ repairer schemes. These schemes take the form of a list of garages or a telephone helpline service to put accident victims in touch with a vehicle body repairer with which an insurer has a “special relationship”.
This documentary on ‘Channel 4’ proved it- www.telegraph.co.uk/…/Insurers-cash-in-on-your-crash
Despite the Director General of Fair Trading’s request, insurance policy holders still remain largely unaware of their right to have damaged vehicles repaired at the garage of their choice, providing the chosen garage operates to industry standards and repair costs can be satisfactorily agreed.
In such circumstances, an insurance engineer’s inspection of the damaged vehicle may be requested before repairs can be authorised, but any necessary inspection should be arranged promptly to minimize delays in repairs.
We deal with insurance engineers on a regular basis. We will make sure nothing is missed.
We can provide a body repair and claims service for all makes of vehicle and, in addition:
• Ensure top quality service, with priority scheduling, to get your vehicle back on the road, with minimum disruption
• Provide a (like for like*) replacement car for the duration of repairs
• Provide assurance that the highest standards of workmanship will be maintained through comprehensive checks at every stage of the repair process
• Arrange for the collection and delivery of your vehicle, if required
• Provide you with a fully priced written estimate before work begins
• Provide on-the-spot help and advice to deal with your insurance claim
• Pay your excess, (call us for details)
• Supply a written Lifetime Guarantee for all work carried out
• And you get what we call “Thank-you for choosing A-team” 😉
Tip.
“Insurance approved” means there is an agreement/contract between body-shop and insurance company. Insurance companies get a big discount for giving body-shop a certain number of repair jobs per year.
Our rule: the vehicle MUST be returned as new. We think about safety and quality when we do our estimate.
When the insurance repairer estimates, they keep in mind their agreement to keep the costs to a minimum.
It’s the same if you hear; Audi, BMW, Mercedes Benz, Lexus/Toyota, Jaguar etc. dealer-approved body shop, there is a similar agreement/contract between the dealer and bodyshop. If the dealer quotes £700 for bumper scratch, the car will end up in that garage for ~25% of what you pay. If you go directly to that garage, you will pay £550-£650.
We don’t play these games. We will NEVER agree to become a “Dealer/Insurance Approved Body Shop”.
We will remain Independent, as we stand by our work.
If you choose A-team to carry out your vehicle repairs-
YOU will be our customer- NOT THE INSURANCE COMPANY!
All our customers get a LIFETIME WARRANTY and a SATISFACTION GUARANTEE!
And, if any customer complaint occurs, we will abide by the terms and procedures set out in the Code of Practice for the Motor Industry agreed with the Director General of Fair Trading.
